BH4H at Duke University
Bring Happiness for Hospice all began at Duke. The organization itself was originally accepted as a club at Duke University in November of 2024, and as the vision expanded, we decided to make BH4H a national nonprofit organization, with the Duke University club being its main university chapter. In sticking to the Duke community, this chapter is partnered with two hospice organizations in Durham, NC: Liberty HomeCare & Hospice and Hock Family Pavilion.
In September of 2024, the idea to start BH4H had begun. Once our executive team assembled together, we submitted an application to open a student organization at Duke University, using Duke as our catalyst to make change. By November, our club was approved, and membership opened to the general Duke student population.
BH4H is a recognized student organization (RSO) with open membership. Any student can join our organization at any time, with no fee or application process required.

Liberty HomeCare & Hospice is a state-wide Hospice Center that encourages care from the patient’s home, supporting independence and well-being. In the Durham area, they serve about 50 patients at any given time.

The Hock Family Pavilion is a Duke Hospice Center that offers inpatient hospice care in Durham. It features 12 private patient rooms, each with a private bath and patio.
